Brentwood Academy Dean of Students Kent Bradford was honored at special retirement ceremonies in New Orleans on the occasion of his retirement from the U. S. Marine Corps following 30 years of service. Colonel Bradford has served at BA for four years.
The Upper School Forensics Team competed at Collierville High School against 22 other schools. Team members placing included Laura Burgin and Evan Ford, first place Duo Interpretation; Taylor Norton, second place in Original Oratory; Sarah Keaggy, second place in Prose and in Humorous Interpretation; Luke Newman, second place in Impromptu Speaking; Evan Ford, third place in Original Oratory; Jane Carter, fourth place in Dramatic Interpretation and Sarah Keaggy and Caroline Greene, fourth place in Duo Improvisation. The team tied for third place overall. The team is sponsored by faculty member Joanna Franzke.
Longtime Brentwood Academy teacher and coach Ray Dalton was recognized when the new wrestling gym in the Athletic Center was named in his honor. Dalton taught history and coached wrestling and football during his 27 years at BA prior to his retirement in 2007. Dalton and his family were honored at a program and reception at the dedication, which was attended by numerous former students. An oil portrait of Coach Dalton, painted by BA alumnus Clay Perry, was unveiled during the ceremonies.
Upper school students participated in a blanket drive for Graceworks Ministry as part of the program sponsored by Youth Leadership Brentwood. Shannon Evins and Matthew Keller, members of Youth Leadership Brentwood, spearheaded the effort at BA.
The middle school forensics team traveled to Western Kentucky to compete and with the following results:
Andrew Wilson and Lily Norton: placed first in Duo Interpretation, Andrew Wilson placed third in Prose Interpretation, and Will Boling placed fifth in Original Oratory. The team is sponsored by faculty member Ryan Hubbard.
